Christmas had passed and now all that was left was New Years, but Harry really didn't particularly care. He had worked all of Christmas Eve much to his mothers dismay, but he was off on Christmas Day and they made the best of it. Splitting it between his parents house, but of course he wasn't exactly fond about being around his mother's boyfriend. He wasn't really sure why, but he also wasn't all that fond about being around his step-mother all that much either. Him and his sister had begun to refer to her as their step-mother almost immediately, not that she was aware.

He had received Mattie's gift, which he loved, and he had wanted to make sure he thanked her. However, their relationship or lack of one was still a confusing situation. He was just going to try to keep his distance in someways while continuing to be her friend. Well, that was at least his plan, but sometimes it was hard to actually do that when he was around her. So he convinced himself to visit her home, but it would only be a quick visit - at least that's what he had told himself. When he arrived he had knocked and waited for her to invite him in. And he had hoped that it was a less awkward interaction between the two of them.

Harrison knew he had put his heart out there, and in many ways had gotten it crushed. Was it a first heartbreak in a round about way? Not exactly. When Bex had basically cheated with her ex he had been hurt, even though he had tried to move passed it. Honestly, he just couldn't, for some reason it just made him not able to trust her or truly forgive her. Relationships were tricky things, and well, Harry knew he wasn't always a great boyfriend, at least not in high school. Since then he liked to think he grew up, or at least started to grow up.

“I hope you don't mind me stopping by so early,” he spoke after she she opened the door and urged him to come inside. He hesitated for a moment before he attempted to hug her and kiss her on the cheek, “I had to thank you for my epic gift.”

Harry knew Mattie wasn't purposely trying to hurt him, but everything still sucked. He wished she'd just give them a chance and realize he had no plans of going anywhere any time soon. The whole problem was he was unsure how he was he supposed to prove that he wasn't going to run during the tough times? He knew by leaving in the middle of their 'arguments' didn't help, but he always found that walking away for a little while in those circumstances did help cool things down. It kind of made things confusing, he wanted to prove he wasn't going anywhere, but he just didn't know how to make her see that.

He just had to prove it, and he hoped that at one point she'd eventually believe it.
